Plants for Shade
Frequently Asked Questions
Each piece is unique and handmade. I make the plants in collections and when I have enough to sell they go onto the website. If you’d like a heads up on the next drop please sign up to my newsletter.
I make geraniums all year round but some plants are more seasonal. So if you are looking to buy a paper daffodil , you might need to wait till
the January sale.
The leaves are made from paper, some of which is hand marbled. The
flowers are made from crepe paper and the stems from tape wrapped
wire.
The pots themselves are beautiful reclaimed or antique terracotta. Some have chips and dents and discolouration that adds to the charm of the piece.
The pots are filled with an environmentally friendly flower foam that is made from coconut husk and are topped with either oyster shells, whelk shells (a by product of the fishing industry) or gravel.
If you'd like a close up or a little video of a pot, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Paper plants, like their living friends, are delicate. They should be kept
away from sunlight to stop the colours fading. Do not water your
paper plant, or display it in a humid area. I recommend placing it on a
coaster on delicate surfaces as the pots are old and may not have smooth bottoms! Alternatively you could affix felt pads. If you need to move the leaves or flowers to suit your spot, do so very very carefully, bending the wire rather than tugging on the delicate leaves.
When your plant needs a
little dust, I recommend a cool hairdryer at a distance! I also brush mine with a clean new makeup brush.

The Teddy Bear Chairs are vintage chairs, sourced in the UK and made from a variety of woods. They are painted in non toxic water based paint and coated in several layers of water based varnish.
Please wipe chairs with a damp cloth and avoid using any harsh chemicals as it may damage the paintwork.
